2018 Club Race Best Ever

Every year the club race seems to get better.   250 racers from U8 to Masters ran the dual course… or in the case of the Masters attempted to run it.  Chris Pretty calls it the largest club race in the province and one of the largest races overall.

Tight battles, fast times and crazy crashes defined the day.  Nesho and his crew did a great job setting up a course the U8s could complete and the U16s and U18s could compete on.  The weather held up too.  Aside from a little fog it was a fantastic day.

Once the racing wrapped up the older racers helped the parents break down the course in record time.  From there it was up to the cabin for the parent social.  The club race isn’t just a great way to get back into the groove and see old friends it’s also a fantastic fundraiser for the club.  The cabin was abuzz with hot dog and mac and cheese sales.  Alex said it was the best day of sales since he started running the kitchen.   The beer drinkers also put some cash in the club coffers. A great new place to hang out too.  The renovations to the cabin are amazing.  Chris, John and Glen on plumbing pulled together the bar just in time.  Great work guys.

With the club race done the season is on.  Good luck and great skiing Tyee!

Thanks to Edward Tai for the great photos
