This event is open to all K1 racers and a qualifying race for the Whistler Cup in April.

Transportation: Bus leaves from the North Van Superstore (close to 2nd Narrows bridge) parking lot on Wednesday, March 17th at 7:45am. Arrive at 7:30am to load the bus (this time may change, please check back for update). Please pack a boxed dinner/snack for the trip which is estimated 9-10 hours. The bus will leave on Sunday immediately after the race. Estimated arrival time will be early hours of the morning around 1:00am. Please call the race line at 604 983-8489 on Sunday for an accurate ETA.

Accommodations: Racers are required to stay in team accommodations for this race. We have booked 3 large condos for 4 nights within walking distance to lodge & lift. There may be access to hot tubs so bring bathing suits & towel. Coaches will have a separate condo(s) in the same complex.

Chaperones: With 3 cabins there will also be 3 chaperones to ensure there is an adult in each cabin. Each chaperone will be responsible for preparing menus, shopping for food, cooking meals for their own cabin members, making sure the kids get up and to bed at a reasonable hour and encourage team building amongst the kids.

Food: Please let us know in advance if your child has food allergies. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snacks will be included once they arrive on the mountain.

Packing: Remember to label all gear, equipment and bags. GS and SL skis should be packed. They need to be race tuned and ready. Helmet, chin guards, shin guards, goggles, gloves, race suits and all other regular training/racing items need to be packed. All equipment should be checked prior to departure and will not be able to get checked or repaired. Be prepared for all weather conditions. See packing list attached.

Estimated Costs:
K1: $750.00 (based on 26 racers)

The estimated fee covers many perks including training day, race entries, lift tickets, accommodation, transportation, meals, coaching and a Saturday banquet. These are estimated costs only. Differences will be reconciled after the race and posted to racer accounts. To confirm your space, please register and pay online asap.

Please note, unlike previous races, these fees cover an extra training day on Thursday which includes lift tickets as well as a banquet on Saturday. Discounts have been provided for accommodation, which will hold all the athletes and chaperones and located very close to the lift. The long distance trip (9-10 hrs) is also a factor for increased transportation costs and an additional day for accommodation. We will be using Moose Travel for this trip as they are reliable and provided the lowest transportation cost.

Awards:
Awards will be presented each day after the race.

Schedule for Registration and Deadlines (observe tight deadlines):
1. Early Bird rate is in effect for registration up to Feb 15, 2010
2. $100 additional charge for registrations from Feb 16, 2010 – Feb 22, 2010
3. Final Race Registration closed after Feb 22, 2010

School Planning: Please remember to communicate well in advance with the school and teachers to prepare for missed tests, projects etc.

Grouse Reciprocal Pass: For those families planning to be at this race, bring your Grouse Pass to receive 25% discount on lift tickets. The racers have their lift tickets included but the rest of the family can enjoy this reciprocal discount.
