GMC Terrain Raffle Fundraiser Tickets
In past years our club has participated in a raffle sponsored by GM Canada that has raised funds for Grouse Mountain Tyee and BC Alpine. This year there was some uncertainty about whether GM would participate and Tyee also had a chance to join with Grouse Mountain Resorts to raise money for Georgia Simmerling. These raffle tickets were included in the family membership. This was a great success and helped to fund Georgia's current World Cup program, in which she recently placed 29th in the Lake Louise SG.
After some consideration GM Canada decided to continue their sponsorship and BC Alpine has relaunched the raffle. The main prize is a 2010 GMC Terrain (value $30,500) donated by GMC Canada and there are two early-bird prizes; a Descente BC Ski Team ski suit (value $750) and a Miele Blue Star vacuum (value $750). This is an excellent fundraising opportunity presented to every ski club in British Columbia.
The idea is to give each member family an opportunity to get involved in the fundraising process. Parents can take this opportunity to teach their young racers to take ownership over their involvement in ski training and racing by encouraging them to sell tickets to family, friends, neighbors and parent's coworkers. It's also a great opportunity to teach the community about the sport and our club.
We hope that every Grouse Tyee family will be able to sell at least 1 booklet of 10 tickets at $5 each. The ticket booklets will be sold through the Tyee website. The early-bird draw on January 29 is to encourage early book returns. All books, early-bird or not, must be returned by March 15. Please note you must return only the book with ticket stubs.
Grouse Mountain Tyee Ski Club is allocated a minimum of 1000 tickets. The Club will receive 70% of the proceeds from the sale of each book of tickets. Last year this resulted in the club receiving over $5500! In other words, most of the value of the tickets goes directly to our members, helping to keep program pricing affordable.
These tickets can be purchased by clicking on the 2010 GMC Terrain button under the events tab or directly from the list in the left-hand column on the Grouse Tyee homepage. After purchasing the tickets they will be mailed directly to your home.
