U8s racing on Grouse Tyee Club Race Day, January 2022

Interested in joining?

Your application process should include the following steps:

  • Attend an info session to learn more about the club.
  • Submit your formal application to the Membership team.
  • Your child attends the Try Tyee (on snow assessment) ski session.

We typically have vacancies in our U8 and U10 programs.  For the 2025/2026 season this will mean

  • U8 - born 2018/2019

  • U10 - born 2017/2016

We do not accept applications for younger skiers. An on-snow assessment must be completed for admission.

Please note we anticipate that our programs for older athletes will be full or almost full for the next season. However, if you have an older skier  who has a ski racing background, or is a strong skier who has a passion for starting the sport of ski racing, please contact us directly at membership@grousetyee.com

INFO SESSIONS FOR NEXT SEASON APPLICATIONS

We are hosting two information sessions to help prospective families learn more about the Club and meet the program director, our head coaches from U8 and U10, and our membership chair.

If you're interested in joining Tyee ski club, we strongly encourage you to attend one of these sessions. These information sessions are for parents and guardians. You can join for either session (both sessions will include the same presentation):

  • January 19, 2025: 3:30-5:00PM - River Room at Lions Gate Community Centre
  • March 1, 2025: 3:00-5:00PM - River Room at Lions Gate Community Centre
  • March 27, 2025: 7:00-9:00PM - Online (Meeting room details will be emailed earlier that day to everyone registered for the information session.)

Please register here for an Information Session.

IS MY U8 READY FOR TYEE?

To determine if your child is ready you should be able to confidently answer YES to all of these questions:

  • Your child is a strong skier for their age
  • They can link short radius turns continuously down a run such as The Cut,  without stopping, at a consistent moderate speed.
  • They should be comfortable skiing down green and (easier groomed) blue runs.
  • Your skier should have participated in an introductory structured ski program and ski with parents as often as possible to increase

IS MY FAMILY THE RIGHT FIT ?
As we are primarily volunteer driven, we also look for families with the following traits:

  • a passion for skiing and ski racing
  • enthusiasm and willingness to engage in the club and support it
  • willingness to volunteer a minimum of 8 days per year
  • a desire to live our Tyee values
