U8s racing on Grouse Tyee Club Race Day, January 2022
Grouse Mountain Tyee Ski Club, established in 1929, is one of the longest running ski clubs in Canada. Our rich history, mission, vision and values can be found on the pages of this website. Please take a moment to read and get to know a little more about us.
We are passionate about skiing, racing and our club. Our Tyee athletes grow up to be strong skiers, great racers, and great people: supporting teammates in a fun and friendly environment, building resilience, grit and determination; learning about themselves and others, all on the beautiful ski hill.
Tyee Ski Club is a Ski Racing Club. Our programs are designed to develop the physical and ski specific qualities of ski racing athletes aged 6-18. This is NOT a learn to ski programme.

Applications for the 2024/2025 season are now CLOSED!
Please follow us on our Instagram or Facebook accounts to get our latest updates. Applications for the 2025/2026 season will open January 2025.
Please note, that we receive many applications each year, and aren't able to offer a spot in our club to all our applicants.
We are hosting two information sessions to help prospective families learn more about the Club and meet the program director, our head coaches from U8 and U10, and our membership chair. If you're interested in joining Tyee ski club, we strongly encourage you to attend one of these sessions. These information sessions are for parents and guardians. You can join for either session (both sessions will include the same presentation):
January 20, 2024: 3:30-5:00PM - Peak Room at Lions Gate Community Centre
February 3, 2024: 3:00-5:00PM - River Room at Lions Gate Community Centre
March 16, 2024: 6:30PM - 8:30PM - Online (Meeting room link will be emailed Friday evening and Saturday 15 mins prior to the meeting to the people who register, using the link below.)
Applications for the 2024/2025 season will close March 24, 2024. It is highly recommended that you attend an information session before applying.
If we think your child might be ready for our program, we will invite you and your child to a "Try Tyee" session so we can meet you and your skier on snow. During the Try Tyee sessions, your skier will ski with one of our Tyee coaches in a fun and supportive environment and our coaches will be able to assess if your skier is ready for our program. This is also a great way for your skier to experience a snapshot of Tyee training and if they would like to be part of our club. Please note, we may not be able to offer a Try Tyee session to all applicants.
We are unable to consider applications who haven't participated in Try Tyee.
We are limited in the numbers of our membership so we aren't able to offer a spot to every family who are interested in joining us. We consider many factors in your application, including skiing ability, but the success of our skiers and our club, comes from welcoming families who are enthusiastic participants, willing to jump in to help, and live our Tyee values, and of course have a passion for skiing, and ski racing.
We typically have vacancies in our U8 and U10 programs. For the 2024/2025 season this will mean
We do not accept applications for younger skiers.
We anticipate that our programs for older athletes will be full or almost full for the 2024/2025 season, so we will not be opening general applications for those age groups. However, if you have a skier born 2014 or older who has a ski racing background, or is a strong skier who has a passion for starting the sport of ski racing, please contact us directly at membership@grousetyee.com
Whilst we consider other factors in your application, we do know that your young skier will get the most out of our programs if they’re strong enough skiers. As a rough guide, your skier would have been skiing for at least 2 seasons if they are applying for the U8 program, and over 3 seasons if they are applying for the U10 program Your skier would probably have participated in the higher levels of ski school and/or you regularly ski as a family.
Your skier is a strong skier (for their age) and can link short radius turns continuously down a run such as The Cut, without stopping, at a consistent moderate speed. They should be comfortable skiing down green and (easier groomed) blue runs. Your skier should have participated in an introductory structured ski program and ski with parents as often as possible to increase mileage. They should ski at least 25+ times a season.

In addition to this we are looking for skiers who capture the Tyee Spirit:
Priority will also be given to applicants where at least one parent/guardian is a strong skier.
Please also note that we may not be able to offer all applicants the opportunity to take part in Try Tyee so the more information you are able to provide us on your application form the better!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at membership@grousetyee.com.
For the minimum ski requirement for U8 admission, please refer to the videos below, bronze level acceptable.
