Sun Peaks Mega Camp Recap

Last weekend, the Vancouver Ski Team joined the U14s and U16s for the Sun Peaks Mega Camp.

The camp was a transition period for athletes moving up to get a taste of VST and a final event for others. On the first two training days, the team brought it back to the basics with some stubby courses then challenged themselves (and their legs) with a full-length slalom that ran down a steep pitch.

The day after was a GS FIS race. Despite the clouds and variable visibility, the hard surface and wide, winding set contributed to a fast, fun event that saw spectacular scoring opportunities. After an exhausting season, it was the perfect GS race to finish it off on.

Unfortunately, athletes were unable to compete in the next day’s slalom event due to an excess of snow.

VST would like to thank all the coaches, parents, and volunteers for coming out to support them, and for making those three days so fun and productive. As well, it was exciting to welcome new teammates and to end the season on a hill reminiscent of their younger racing years. But it was also bittersweet for the teammates moving on. VST is proud of all they have accomplished and wishes them all the best for their future endeavours.

Thank you to Titouan and Nino for a great season, and looking forwards to moving on with some new faces to the next one!
